  • COES Lab Access Request

  • Please submit a separate form for each supervisor who oversees your work in each lab.

    For example:

    • If you work with one professor in a lab space in OLS and a different professor in OPS, a separate form should be submitted for each supervisor and all the spaces they oversee where you require access.
    • For shared spaces, the process is similar. You should request access by listing the supervisor you report to for that space. For instance, if you are working in the astro lab suite in OPS, you would request access only from the professor you work with, such as Dr. Warren.

If you have any questions about the process, please email coeslabs@fit.edu.

  • Before you can begin working or conducting research in any COES laboratory, you must complete the required safety training modules. All laboratory personnel are required to complete basic safety training.

The path you take to complete this training depends on your employment status with the university:

    • If you are employed by the university (GSA, Student Assistant/CR, Federal Work Study, or Faculty):
      • You must complete the training via Workday.
      • Please refer to the Workday Learning Enrollment Guide for step-by-step instructions.
    • If you are NOT employed by the university (volunteers, or students working in a research lab as part of a course):
      • You must complete the safety training via Canvas.
      • Please refer to the  Canvas Training Enrollment Guide to get enrolled and complete the modules.

Note: Depending on your specific lab environment, additional specialized courses may be required. Specialized training lists are available via OneDrive. Each PI folder contains separate training requirement documents for every laboratory space they oversee.
